We’ve been home nearly a month now and every time I’ve sat down at a computer with the intention of finishing our travelogue I’ve been distracted job, flat and furniture hunting. Fortunately, I have now secured employment, found a flat and gone too broke to buy any more furniture, so I’m back to the travel ramblings.
From Winnipeg we hopped back on the train and wound our way through the lakes and trees to Toronto to stay with Keeley and Mike.
By this time we were starting to feel a bit travel weary so we spent our time in Toronto hanging out with friends, eschewing any overly touristy activities. We ate great food, and drank lots of coffee and beer.
The one touristy activity that we did partake in was a tour of the Steamworks brewery. It is a boutique brewery that makes Steamworks Pilsner and nothing else, lucky for me this is probably my favourite Canadian beer so we made the most of the free samples.
We spent time wandering and browsing in colourful Kensington market. The whole place is an explosion of colour: from the brightly painted houses with their contrasting railings, to the shops whose wares spill out into the street.
