Van Dusen Gardens

Autumn is probably my favourite season in Vancouver, so I’m really glad we were able to stay and see the leaves begin to turn, and to experience the incredible light as the days start to get shorter. Walking through fallen leaves brings out my inner child and I find it almost impossible to resist stomping through them when I see piles at the side of the road. There is something so satisfying about the sound of footsteps on dry leaves.

Van Dusen Botanical Gardens are situated a bit outside the city centre and as a result (and the entry fee, I assume) they are generally a lot quieter than many of Vancouver’s other parks and gardens. This is probably one of the reasons they are one of my favourites. These pictures were all taken this weekend when the garden was bathed in low lying golden sunlight and all the trees had put on their autumnal coats.
