Documentary films

I love watching documentaries. It’s pretty much the only thing that makes me miss having a television. This week though I have managed to see two at the cinema, both of which were excellent.

The first was at DOXA, Vancouver’s documentary film festival. I was lucky enough to get to see the opening film of the festival, Louder than a Bomb. This is the inspirational film about a slam poetry festival for high school students in Chicago.

The second was the recently released Bill Cunningham – New York, which follows photographer Bill around New York on his bicycle, looking back over his career and touching briefly on his life out with his career. I can only say that I hope one day I get to do something that I love as much as he does.
